What is limestone / scale?

Limestone is a sedimentary rock consisting primarily of calcium carbonate (CaCo3).
Commonly we find this compound dissolved in water in the form of calcium hydrogencarbonate Ca (HCO3)2 (also called calcium bicarbonate).

The set of bicarbonates of calcium, magnesium and various mineral salts diluted in water, expresses the degree of hardness of the water that determines the capacity of formation of calcareous encrustations.

The calcium bicarbonate Ca (HCO3)2 with the increase in temperature, releases carbon dioxide (CO2) turning into solid calcium carbonate (CaCO3), thus depositing on pipes, taps, internal parts of household appliances (dishwashers and washing machines) and installations.

The limestone layer that is formed inside the pipes, with the passage of time becomes more and more solid and thick, forming encrustations that lead to an increase in maintenance costs as well as a shorter service life.

Remove the limestone with the Pineco magnetic limescale inhibitors

To understand the functioning of the magnetic antiscale, it should be illustrated how calcium carbonate occurs in water. The structure in water naturally appears in two different crystalline forms: Calcite and Aragonite.

The calcite is a crystal of calcium carbonate of rhombohedral shape with high power of aggregation and compactness, while the aragonite is a crystal of calcium carbonate of needle-like shape with low power of aggregation and low compactness.
The crystalline form responsible for calcareous incrustations is calcite.

The operating principle of the antiscale magnet is based on the transformation of the calcite present in the water into aragonite in order to create particles that do not thicken and do not adhere to the pipes.

Pineco Antical magnetic anti-scales are a simple, economical and easy to install solution, they do not require any maintenance and do not alter the organoleptic characteristics of the water as they do not contain chemical additives.
They consist of a metal body containing permanent magnets of the highest power and quality that act on the calcium carbonate present in the water.

This compound passing through the powerful magnetic field undergoes a transformation that prevents the deposition of limestone which loses its adherence to metal surfaces.

The Antical products correspond to the prescription of Decree 443/90 of the Ministry of Health for the treatment of drinking water.

How to remove limescale thanks to Pineco Limescale Inhibitors?

Pineco, according to the needs of plant and apparatus, offers three different types of magnetic anti-scale inhibitors.

  • ANTICAL 10.000 for domestic users
  • ANTICAL 20.000 to be applied to the meter
  • ANTICAL 30.000 for large installations
